TBK1 also known as NAK is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where TBK1 interacts with various signaling molecules to modulate NFκB activity. TBK1 plays a crucial role in regulating the NFκB signaling pathway, vital for immune response and inflammation. TBK1′s cytoplasmic localization enables rapid response to cellular stress and infection, facilitating IκB protein phosphorylation, which leads to IκB degradation and subsequent NFκB release and activation. This process is essential for transcribing genes involved in immune responses, making TBK1 a key player in defense mechanisms. TBK1 also interacts with TRAF2 and TANK, further highlighting TBK1′s role in NFκB activation pathway. |
