Product Description | |
PFKP also known as phosphofructokinase platelet, PFKC a member of the phosphofructokinase A protein family. PFKP is a critical component of the glycolytic pathway, functioning as an allosteric enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of fructose-6-phosphate to fructose-1,6-bisphosphate, a key regulatory step in glucose metabolism. PFKP is primarily located in platelets, where PFKP plays a vital role in energy production and metabolic regulation, particularly during periods of increased energy demand. Proper functioning of PFKP is essential for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis, and any defects in PFKP gene can lead to metabolic disorders, including an increased risk of obesity. |
