Product Description

GATA-6 is a member of the GATA family of transcription factors, characterized by a conserved zinc finger DNA-binding domain that binds to specific DNA sequences, particularly the WGATAR consensus sequence. GATA-6 plays a crucial role in gene expression regulation during development, particularly in heart, pancreas, and reproductive tissues. GATA-6 is essential for proper differentiation and function of various cell types, including cardiac myocytes and endocrine cells. GATA-6 expression is tightly regulated and interacts with other GATA family members, such as GATA-4 and GATA-5, to coordinate complex gene regulatory networks. Understanding GATA-6 interactions and regulatory mechanisms is vital, as dysregulation has been implicated in various developmental disorders and diseases, including congenital heart defects and certain cancers. GATA-6′s ability to form heterodimers with other GATA factors enhances regulatory capabilities, making GATA-6 a key player in transcriptional control of genes critical for cellular identity and function.
