Product Description | |
Op18 also known as oncoprotein 18, stathmin, STMN1 is a highly conserved, tubulin-associated intracellular phosphoprotein that plays a pivotal role in regulating microtubule dynamics. Op18′s ability to modulate microtubule stability is crucial for proper cell division and differentiation, making Op18 an essential player in various cellular processes. Notably, Op18 undergoes multiple post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, which can significantly influence activity and interactions with other proteins. Such regulation is particularly important in cancer, as aberrant expression and modification of Op18 have been linked to various malignancies, including breast carcinomas and acute leukemias. Op18′s presence in these cancers underscores potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target, highlighting the importance of understanding Op18 function and regulation in both normal and pathological states. |
