PSD93 also known as DLG2 is a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family. PSD93 plays a crucial role in assembling signal transduction complexes at synaptic sites, particularly in hippocampal neurons where PSD93 is exclusively localized to postsynaptic sites. PSD93 is essential for clustering and anchoring NMDA receptors at the synapse, which is vital for synaptic plasticity and memory formation. Notably, PSD93 interacts specifically with glutamate receptor subunit delta2, which is enriched in Purkinje neuron cell bodies and dendrites, facilitating delta2 clustering when coexpressed and ensuring their co-localization at parallel fiber synapses. PSD93′s ability to mediate these interactions underscores its importance in synaptic function and neuronal communication, making PSD93 a valuable target for research in neurobiology and related fields.
