Product Description | |
Na+/K+ ATPase α1 also known as α1 Sodium Potassium ATPase, ATP1A1 is a crucial plasma membrane protein responsible for maintaining the electrochemical gradients of sodium and potassium ions across the cell membrane. Located in the plasma membrane, Na+/K+ ATPase α1 plays an essential role in regulating cellular ion balance, which is vital for processes such as maintaining cell volume, establishing the resting membrane potential, and facilitating secondary active transport of various solutes. As a member of the P-type ATPase family, Na+/K+ ATPase α1 hydrolyzes ATP to drive the active transport of three sodium ions out of the cell and two potassium ions into the cell, thereby sustaining essential physiological functions including nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, and kidney function. |
