Product Description

ApoB(Apolipoprotein B) is the main apolipoprotein of chylomicrons and low density lipoproteins (LDL), and is the ligand for the LDL receptor. Two primary isoforms of apoB exist: apoB-100, synthesized in the liver and serving as a structural component of very-low-density lipoprotein particles, and apoB-48, produced in the small intestine, which is crucial for chylomicron formation. ApoB plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and is essential for the formation and transport of lipoproteins, which are vital for the distribution of cholesterol and triglycerides throughout the body.  The differential expression of these isoforms results from post-transcriptional editing of a common apoB mRNA, a process regulated by the enzyme APOBEC1.
