| Product Description | |
FUT2(Fucosyltransferase 2) is a Golgi stack membrane protein that is involved in the creation of a precursor of the H antigen, which is required for the final step in the soluble A and B antigen synthesis pathway. FUT2 plays a crucial role in the synthesis of the H antigen, a fundamental component of the ABO blood group system. FUT2 is primarily located in secretory tissues, including the salivary glands and gastrointestinal tract, where FUT2 facilitates the addition of fucose to glycoproteins and glycolipids, thereby influencing blood group antigen expression and secretion. The presence or absence of the H antigen can significantly impact blood transfusion compatibility and susceptibility to certain infections, making FUT2 an important protein in both clinical and research settings. |
