| Product Description | |
MOR-1 also known as mu-opioid receptor, OPRM1 is one of at least three opioid receptors in humans. MOR-1 plays a crucial role in mediating the effects of endogenous opioid peptides and exogenous opiates, such as morphine, by functioning as a receptor for beta-endorphin. MOR-1 is primarily located in the central nervous system and is integral to the modulation of pain, reward, and addictive behaviors. MOR-1′s location in the cell is underscored by involvement in the inhibition of neurotransmitter release, which is achieved through the activation of G protein-coupled signaling pathways that reduce calcium ion influx and enhance potassium ion conductance. This mechanism not only influences instinctive behaviors and emotional responses but also highlights the therapeutic potential of targeting MOR-1 in pain management and addiction treatment. |
