HNF-4α/γ(Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α/γ ) also known as HNF4A/HNF4G is a transcription factor that belongs to the orphan nuclear receptor superfamily. HNF-4α/γ plays an essential role in regulating genes involved in glucose and lipid metabolism, making it a key player in maintaining metabolic homeostasis. Dysfunction of HNF-4 α is associated with several metabolic disorders, including diabetes and obesity, highlighting its significance in both basic and clinical research. Understanding HNF-4 α function can provide insights into therapeutic targets for metabolic conditions. HNF4γ along with HNF1α regulates this transcriptome. HNF4γ generates and maintains enhancers at the gastrointestinal-lineage genes as a pioneer factor and mediates castration resistance.
