| Product Description | |
SPINK1 also known SPINK3, TATI is a trypsin inhibitor that plays a crucial role in the pancreas by preventing the premature activation of zymogens through its single Kazal-like domain, thereby protecting pancreatic tissue from damage caused by trypsin. The gene encoding this 79 amino acid protein, SPINK1, is located on chromosome 5q32, and mutations in this gene are linked to chronic pancreatitis, an autosomal dominant condition characterized by severe abdominal pain and the formation of calculi in pancreatic ducts. Notably, TATI can be detected in the cyst fluid of patients with cystic pancreatic lesions, making TATI a valuable biomarker for distinguishing between benign and malignant cystic pancreatic lesions, which is essential for guiding appropriate clinical management. |
