ZEB2 also known as SMADIP1, ZFHX1B, SIP1 (SMAD interacting protein 1) is a member of the Zfh1 family of 2-handed zinc finger/homeodomain proteins. ZEB2 plays a pivotal role in regulating gene expression through interactions with transcription factors, particularly in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is crucial for processes such as embryonic development and tissue repair. ZEB2 is characterized by a unique structure, including a SMAD-binding domain, a homeodomain, and two clusters of zinc fingers at both N- and C-termini, allowing binding to specific DNA sequences and interaction with other proteins. |
