| Product Description | |
GOT (Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase) is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme which exists in cytoplasmic and mitochondrial forms, GOT1 and GOT2, respectively. GOT1 also known as AATC is crucial for amino acid metabolism and plays a significant role in the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles by catalyzing the conversion of L-aspartate and 2-oxoglutarate into oxaloacetate and L-glutamate. While GOT1and its mitochondrial counterpart AATM share nearly identical three-dimensional structures, GOT1 exhibits distinct expression patterns and folding rates, which can influence interactions with molecular chaperones such as GroEL, underscoring GOT1′s importance in cellular metabolism and potential implications in metabolic disorders. |
