Product Description

LOX(Lysyl oxidase) also known as AAT10 is a member of the lysyl oxidase family of proteins. LOX plays a critical role in the extracellular matrix by catalyzing the oxidative deamination of peptidyl lysine residues in collagens and elastin, leading to the formation of cross-links that provide structural integrity to tissues. This function is particularly important as LOX contributes to the mechanical properties of connective tissues, influencing their strength and elasticity. Dysregulation of LOX activity can result in pathological conditions, such as fibrosis, where excessive cross-linking leads to tissue stiffness and impaired function. LOX is essential for normal cardiovascular and respiratory system development, and LOX expression is intricately linked to processes such as wound healing, cell motility, and differentiation.
