| Product Description | |
MAOA(Monoamine oxidase A) is one of two neighboring gene family members that encode mitochondrial enzymes which catalyze the oxidative deamination of amines, such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Through regulation of monoamine catabolism, MAOA influences neurotransmitter homeostasis, mitochondrial redox balance, and downstream signaling networks linked to cellular stress responses. MAOA activity contributes to pathways affecting reactive oxygen species production and aldehyde metabolism, connecting monoamine turnover to oxidative stress and metabolic adaptation. Altered MAOA expression or function has been associated with neuropsychiatric phenotypes and disorders involving dysregulated monoaminergic signaling, making it a relevant target for mechanistic studies in neural and peripheral cell systems. |
