ADAM10 also known as KUZ, MADM is a TNF-processing enzyme that cleaves pro-TNF, a membrane-bound precusor protein, at Ala 76-Val 77, which causes membrane shedding of soluble TNF. ADAM10 plays a crucial role in processing tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), a key cytokine involved in inflammation and immune responses. By cleaving membrane-bound precursor pro-TNF at Ala 76-Val 77, ADAM10 facilitates soluble TNF release, which is essential for regulating inflammatory processes and mediating cell signaling pathways. ADAM10 maintains homeostasis in various physiological processes, including immune response and tissue remodeling.
