| Product Description | |
MCM4 also known as IMD54 is a member of the mini-chromosome maintenance (MCM) protein family. MCM4 plays a crucial role in the regulation of DNA replication, ensuring that DNA is replicated only once per cell cycle, which is vital for maintaining genomic stability. MCM4 is primarily located in the nucleus, where MCM4 forms part of the MCM2-7 complex that acts as a helicase during the initiation of DNA replication. This localization is essential because MCM4 interacts with other replication factors and DNA, facilitating the unwinding of double-stranded DNA necessary for replication. Furthermore, MCM4 activity is tightly regulated by various mechanisms, including phosphorylation by cyclin-dependent kinases, which ensures that the replication process is precisely timed and coordinated with the cell cycle. |
