MCM4 also known as IMD54 is a member of the mini-chromosome maintenance (MCM) protein family. MCM4 plays a crucial role in the regulation of DNA replication, ensuring that DNA is replicated only once per cell cycle, which is vital for maintaining genomic stability. MCM4 is primarily located in the nucleus, where MCM4 forms part of the MCM2-7 complex that acts as a helicase during the initiation of DNA replication.
