| Product Description | |
RARα also known as RARalpha, RARA is a crucial nuclear transcription factor located within the cell nucleus, where RARα mediates the effects of retinoic acid, a vital metabolite of vitamin A essential for regulating gene expression involved in cell differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. The proper functioning of RARα is imperative for vertebrate development and maintaining tissue homeostasis, and RARα dysregulation is closely associated with various diseases, notably acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). In APL, a chromosomal translocation fuses the RARα gene with the PML gene, resulting in the oncogenic PML/RARα fusion protein that disrupts normal apoptotic pathways and halts myeloid differentiation. |
