Product Description

AQP2(Aquaporin 2) is a water channel protein located in the kidney collecting tubule, It belongs to the MIP/aquaporin family. AQP2 plays a crucial role in regulating water balance in the body, specifically by facilitating water reabsorption in the kidney collecting ducts in response to vasopressin. This function is vital for maintaining homeostasis, particularly in conditions of dehydration or increased plasma osmolality. AQP2 is unique among aquaporins as the only water channel directly regulated by vasopressin, which enhances activity and promotes urine concentration. Proper functioning of AQP2 is essential for preventing conditions such as diabetes insipidus, where the body fails to concentrate urine, leading to excessive urination and thirst.
