Product Description

NFIC also known as NF1C is a member of the NF1 (nuclear factor 1) family of transcription factors. NFIC plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression by stimulating DNA replication and activating transcription. This 508 amino acid protein is localized in the nucleus and features a CTF/NF-I DNA-binding domain, allowing formation of homodimers that bind to specific DNA sequences, such as the palindromic sequence 5′-TTGGCNNNNNGCCAA-3′. Such binding influences transcriptional regulation of both cellular and viral promoters, thereby impacting various biological processes, including TGFβ signaling and extracellular matrix deposition. NFIC is expressed in multiple tissues, including brain, liver, spleen, and heart, and exists in five alternatively spliced isoforms, highlighting diverse functional roles in cellular physiology and pathology.
