Product Description

Bcl-G also known as BCL2L14 is a member of the BCL2 protein family. Bcl-G plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis, a process essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and eliminating damaged or unwanted cells. Bcl-G is expressed in three alternatively spliced isoforms: short, medium, and long, with the short isoform being testis-specific and localized to cytosolic organelles, while the long isoform is more widely distributed throughout the cytosol. Bcl-G′s ability to induce apoptosis upon overexpression highlights a potential role in tumor suppression, making Bcl-G a significant target for research in cancer biology. Understanding Bcl-G function and regulation is vital for developing therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating apoptosis in various diseases.
