Product Description

KIF2C also known as MCAK is a member of the kinesin-like family of proteins. KIF2C plays a crucial role in regulating microtubule dynamics during cell division, which is essential for accurate chromosome segregation. KIF2C is a protein primarily located in the cytoplasm and nucleus, where KIF2C associates with the centromere during early prophase and disassociates after telophase, ensuring proper chromosome alignment and separation. KIF2C is particularly abundant in thymus and testis, indicating importance in cellular processes related to these tissues, while showing lower expression in small intestine, mucosal lining of colon, and placenta. KIF2C′s interaction with microtubules and other proteins involved in mitotic spindle assembly makes KIF2C vital for maintaining genomic stability, and dysregulation has been implicated in various cancers, suggesting potential as a therapeutic target.
