| Product Description | |
ERK2 also known as P42, MAPK1 is a member of the MAP kinase family. ERK2 is a pivotal component of the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway, which transmits extracellular signals from growth factors, hormones, and neurotransmitters to elicit cellular responses. Activation of ERK2 occurs via phosphorylation by upstream kinases like MEK1/2, leading to dimerization and translocation into the nucleus. Once in the nucleus, ERK2 phosphorylates various transcription factors and regulatory proteins, influencing gene expression related to cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and development. Dysregulation of ERK2 activity has been implicated in numerous pathological conditions, including cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, making ERK2 a significant focus in biomedical research. |
