AF-10 also knwon as MLLT10 is a transcription factor and has been identified as a partner gene involved in several chromosomal rearrangements resulting in various leukemias. AF-10 plays a significant role in gene expression regulation, particularly in acute myeloid leukemia, where AF-10 is implicated in the t(10;11) chromosomal translocation. This translocation leads to fusion proteins that can disrupt normal cellular functions, making AF-10 a key player in oncogenesis. Human AF-10 protein consists of 1027 amino acids and shares 90% identity with mouse AF-10, which contains 1061 amino acids. AF-10 is predominantly expressed in testis, highlighting AF-10′s potential role in reproductive biology and development.
