| Product Description | |
AGK also known as MULK is a mitochondrial membrane protein involved in lipid and glycerolipid metabolism, AGK plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism. AGK functions as a lipid kinase that phosphorylates monoacylglycerol and diacylglycerol, leading to the production of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and phosphatidic acid (PA). The generation of LPA is significant as LPA is involved in various signaling pathways, including the transactivation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), which promote cell growth and proliferation. Notably, AGK overexpression has been linked to the initiation and progression of prostate cancer, highlighting AGK′s potential as a therapeutic target. |
