| Product Description | |
BRE also known as BABAM2 is an anti-apoptotic, death receptor-associated protein that interacts with tumor necrosis factor-receptor-1. BRE plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis by binding to the intracellular juxtamembrane domain of the death receptor, tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 (TNF-R1), as well as the death receptor FAS. This interaction is significant because BRE downregulates TNF-alpha-induced activation of NF-kB, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and differentiation in epithelial, neural, and germ line cells. Additionally, BRE inhibits components of the death-inducing signaling complexes necessary for mitochondrial activation, thereby mediating apoptosis. BRE is predominantly expressed in the adrenal cortex, medulla, testis, and pancreas, with weaker expression observed in the thymus, thyroid, stomach, and small intestine. |
