Product Description | |
OGN also known as Osteoglycin, Mimecan, osteoinductive factor is a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family, which plays a crucial role in organizing extracellular matrix and interacts with transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) to regulate bone formation. Osteoglycin is primarily secreted and found in bone tissues, where Osteoglycin is essential for inducing bone formation in conjunction with TGFβ1 or TGFβ2. The precursor form of Osteoglycin undergoes in situ proteolytic cleavage, resulting in a mature form that is biologically active. This post-translational modification ensures proper functioning of Osteoglycin in bone development and maintenance, highlighting Osteoglycin′s importance in skeletal health and potential implications in bone-related diseases. |
