Product Description | |
TTF-1 also known as thyroid transcription factor-1, NKX2.1, NKX2-1 is a crucial member of the Nkx2 family of homeodomain-containing transcription factors, playing a vital role in regulating the transcriptional activity of thyroid-specific genes. TTF-1 is predominantly located in the epithelial cells of the lung, thyroid, and brain, where TTF-1 is essential for organogenesis and the maintenance of differentiated phenotypes. Specifically, TTF-1 is instrumental in lung morphogenesis as TTF-1 regulates the transcription of surfactant proteins A, B, and C, which are critical for proper lung function and gas exchange. Additionally, in the thyroid, TTF-1 enhances the expression of key thyroid-specific markers such as thyroglobulin, thyroperoxidase, and thyrotropin receptors, thereby influencing thyroid hormone synthesis and regulation. |
