Product Description | |
PR(Progesterone Receptor) is a vital nuclear hormone receptor located within the cell nucleus, where PR functions as a transcription factor to regulate gene expression in response to progesterone binding. Nuclear localization is crucial for PR′s role in controlling essential biological processes such as the menstrual cycle, maintenance of pregnancy, and development of reproductive tissues. PR exists in two main isoforms, PR-A and PR-B, which are transcribed from distinct promoters and exhibit different functional properties. PR-B primarily acts as a transcriptional activator, promoting expression of genes involved in cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis, while PR-A functions as a transcriptional repressor, modulating activity of other steroid hormone receptors. |
