Product Description | |
Lamin B1 also known as LMNB1 is one of the two B-type lamin proteins and is a component of the nuclear lamina. Lamin B1 plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of the nuclear envelope and is a key component of the nuclear lamina, which provides mechanical support to the nucleus and helps organize chromatin. Proper localization of Lamin B1 within the nucleus is essential for regulating gene expression and ensuring cellular stability, as disruptions in its function can lead to various diseases, including laminopathies and cancer. Additionally, Lamin B1 undergoes post-translational modifications such as farnesylation and phosphorylation, which are vital for its function and stability; increased phosphorylation of Lamin B1 is associated with the disintegration of the nuclear envelope during apoptosis, highlighting its importance in cellular processes. |
