Product Description | |
Glut1 also known as SLC2A1 is a 12-pass transmembrane protein that facilitates the basal transport of glucose across plasma membranes, making Glut1 essential for cellular energy production and metabolism. Unlike insulin-regulated transporters like Glut4, Glut1 remains constitutively present at the plasma membrane and ensures glucose availability under varying conditions, including hypoxia. Glut1 is ubiquitously expressed but appears especially abundant in tissues with high glucose demands, such as the brain, red blood cells, and endothelial cells of the blood-brain barrier. Glut1 maintains glucose homeostasis, and Glut1 dysregulation has been associated with various diseases, including cancer and Glut1 Deficiency Syndrome. |
