DAPK1(Death associated protein kinase 1) also known as DAPK is a positive mediator of gamma-interferon induced programmed cell death. DAPK1 plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis, a vital process for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing tumorigenesis. DAPK1 is characterized by its "death domain," which is essential for mediating apoptosis in response to various stimuli, including interferon-gamma. Introduction of DAPK1 into highly metastatic carcinoma clones lacking DAPK1 expression has been shown to suppress metastasis, highlighting DAPK1′s significant role in cancer biology.
