| Product Description | |
TIM-1 also known as HAVCR1 is a single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in the immune system, particularly in the development of T helper 2 (Th2) biased immune responses. TIM-1 is selectively expressed on Th2 cells, which are essential for mediating responses to extracellular pathogens and regulating allergic reactions. Expression of TIM-1 on the surface of these cells allows for the modulation of immune responses, making TIM-1 a significant player in conditions such as asthma and other allergic diseases. Additionally, TIM-1 serves as a receptor for the hepatitis A virus, highlighting TIM-1′s importance in viral pathogenesis. TIM-1 is widely expressed in various tissues, with the highest levels found in the testis and kidney, underscoring TIM-1′s potential roles in both immune regulation and organ-specific functions. |
