| Product Description | |
TPI1 also known as TIM, TPI is a crucial enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, facilitating the reversible conversion of dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, which are essential intermediates in glucose metabolism. This enzymatic activity is vital for energy production, as TPI1 plays a key role in the generation of pyruvate and ATP from glucose, thereby supporting cellular respiration and energy homeostasis. TPI1 is predominantly located in the cytosol, where TPI1 participates in the glycolytic process, and proper functioning is critical for maintaining metabolic balance. Mutations or deficiencies in TPI1 can lead to significant metabolic disorders, including non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia and other serious health issues, underscoring TPI1′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states. |
