| Product Description | |
VEGF-A also known as VPF, VEGF is a member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. VEGF-A plays a crucial role in angiogenesis, the process of new blood vessel formation, which is vital for supplying nutrients and oxygen to tissues, particularly during development and in response to injury. VEGF-A dysregulation is implicated in various pathological conditions, including cancer, where VEGF-A promotes tumor growth and metastasis by enhancing blood supply to the tumor microenvironment. VEGF-A exists as a dimeric glycoprotein and exhibits structural similarities to platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), with multiple isoforms generated through alternative mRNA splicing. VEGF-A expression is tightly regulated, and VEGF-A mRNA is often found in primary tumors, indicating VEGF′s potential as a therapeutic target. |
