| Product Description | |
MMP-3(Matrix metallopeptidase 3) also known as Stromelysin-2 is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family, which plays a crucial role in the remodeling of the extracellular matrix by degrading various components, including collagen and proteoglycans, which is vital for processes such as tissue repair and development. MMP-3 is particularly important as MMP-3 not only activates procollagenase but also participates in the processing of other MMPs, thereby influencing various physiological and pathological processes, including wound healing, inflammation, and cancer progression. MMP-3 activation is tightly regulated and can occur through two distinct pathways: a slower direct activation by MMP-3 itself and a more rapid activation in conjunction with tissue or plasma proteinases. |
